Summary

Summary

Management refers to the process of administering various functions that help in running an organization; be it a government body or a multinational company. Good managers are the backbone of successful enterprises. LPG reforms of 1990 gave a huge boost to services in the private sector. Management professions have since then, gained wide-scale popularity due to many factors such as dynamic job profiles, high paying jobs, working in professional environment, early head start over other careers, high return on investment, greater promotion avenues and better chances of overseas employment.

Management students can seek employment in diverse industries such as banking & financial, FMCG, consultancies, insurance, retail, telecommunication, marketing agencies, start-ups, etc. However, while some companies are open to hiring only graduates, there are certain multinational companies that require a Master degree in management or business administration. As the demand for management education increased, many new institutes mushroomed and started providing management courses in many functional and sector-specific specialisations. The highly work oriented education which is tailored to industry needs, offered by management degrees, sets them apart from traditional courses.
